The Chase Sapphire Credit Card is a top of the line travel credit card providing great benefits. It has a great point system, allowing you to earn different multiples of points for various card use cases (up to 10 points in some situations!). It also provides great travel benefits, letting your credit card become your travel agent and take care of you while you are on the road (not to mention their 24/7 customer service, who will be there to help you day or night).
The main differences between the Sapphire SM card and the Sapphire Preferred credit card have to do with how much money you'll be spending with the card. For people who plan on spending over $3000 in the first few months, the annual fee with the Sapphire Preferred Card in the second year may be worth it. The regular Sapphire card also doesn't have access to a number of loyalty programs the way the Preferred card does (find a list here), and it is worth analyzing how much you plan on spending with your card when deciding between the two.
Like the Sapphire Preferred, the card’s strength is really its travel rewards system. While probably one of the best travel cards out there, it isn’t necessarily one of the best rewards cards for other things. That being said, the Chase Sapphire Credit Card can be a great compromise that gives you access to cash rewards in addition to points that you can put towards travel needs without the risk of an annual fee.
